But alas... I live in a small city. With lots of lights.

Nice !

Did you reduced the noise? Cause if I adjust ISO 1600/3600 my night photo is is green

with F2.8, 8 seconds of exposition and stars aren't that nice visible ..... using Nikon P100, and I know it's piece of shit

Or did you put together more expositions?

If you download the original size picture you WILL see noise cause I did use ISO 6400 like you can see on the far right under camera data which is alot! But hey the picture turned out pretty ok even with that much ISO. Could have turned down the shutter speed a tad cause there is a slight star movement in the picture, oh well

Thats marvellous! I love photos of the stars! They fascinate me so much, I have tried taking pics of them myself but they usually aren't very good, think there's too much light pollution round my way. But this is just brilliant!

Yeah light pollution can be a pain in the butt when you're trying to take a pic of the stars. This was taken by the cottage we have in Norway and up there its pitch black at night. But even then you can still see some lights coming up from the horizon that you can't see with you're naked eyes, but still it sorta makes a cool effect and it doesn't really mess up the picture.
